stitching fun

POTHOLDER OR HOT PAD
The embroidery hoop was made from the lip and outer lid of an extra large sour cream container. The edge of the potholder was finished off with machine top stitching. Stitching patterns and basics can be easily found on the web.

SPOOL KNITTING AND WIRE
Ok, so you taught how to use a spool knitter. What next? One idea is wire art. Here is a super simple wall hanging or ornament with spool knitted yarn and a wire insert to shape with. Letters make an interesting project, too.

TOP STITCHED DISH TOWEL
Made from durable aida cotton fabric. Another beginner project for sewing machine practice.
KNITTED POT HOLDER, WOVEN OR CROCHETED COASTERS
Can't have enough of these in the kitchen. More good beginner projects. Practice getting a smooth even shape.

KNITTED BEAD BAG
For a more advanced project, after learning how to increase and decrease. Embellished with a knitted flower, it also makes an interesting handbag.
